Currently WaterAid is looking for a dynamic, committed, passionate and self-driven individual for the position of ‘Coordinator - Business Development’ for its country office in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Job Purpose

Being a vital position of the Business Development team, s/he is responsible to proactively contribute towards the growth of the organisation through securing financial resources for smooth country programme operation. Being visionary, this position is to contribute achieving organizational goal as well as implementation of its strategic plan through a robust resource mobilisation plan and related activities including opportunity tracking, donor mapping, intelligence gathering, relationship building, and pro-active exploration of business opportunity with donor. The position is accountable for concept and proposal development gathering relevant information and data from varied level of appropriate sources, programme design, donor reporting and managing internal system related to restricted income. This crosscutting position is required to coordinate closely with (not necessarily limited to) Programme team for writing concepts and proposals, Finance team to update financial data in the system and develop project budget; and with Monitoring team to collect progress data for reporting. S/he is also responsible to maintain all relevant documents of each individual awards. The position is based in Dhaka and requires field visits on purpose.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of a high-performing team, the incumbent shall: • Track potential funding opportunities and collect donor and opportunity related information in advance for preparation and making bid/no bid decision • Take action to maintain a healthy funding pipeline for the country program • Lead/contribute to the preparation of concept notes and project proposals for both competitive and unsolicited opportunities • Register new opportunity, follow up approval and update grants data in Restricted Income System (RIS) as maintained by WaterAid globally • Maintain important grants related documents such as proposal, contract document, approval evidence etc. in RIS as well as in paper • Undertake field visit to monitor implementation progress, quality and compliance in order to remain update on the utilization of grants and help variance reporting. • Coordinate as per need with grant focal (opportunity owner) in UK, and other WaterAid member countries depending on the grant origin • Support WaterAid Bangladesh’s engagement in consortium application for competitive grants, specially from UN, FCDO, USAID, EC, SIDA, SDC and any other institutional donors. • Maintain regular and strong and close working relationship (both in person and virtual) with all present and potential institutional donors • Develop close working relationship with national and multinational private sector partners to co-create projects, maintain strategic engagement and generate focused funding to support national SDG commitments • Support organization to ensure donor compliances

Requisite qualifications, experience, and attributes

Education and experience: Master’s degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Management or any other relevant discipline. Advanced degree from recognised overseas institution/university would be an advantage. For excellent academic attainment or overseas degree with fast-track professional growth, the years of experience may be relaxed. Minimum 06 (six) years of relevant professional experience with reputed NGO/INGO, donor organisation. Proven track records in fundraising are essential. Experience of fundraising in WASH sector would be an advantage. Knowledge: Knowledge on fundraising culture and competition in Bangladesh and elsewhere, and familiarity with online database systems is essential. Understanding the donor’s priority and what motivates them is an essential trait for this role. Thinking and working with an analytical insight, ability to understand the donor and grant/ technical assistance funding context in Bangladesh and maintaining flexibility and adaptability in program design is essential. Understanding of the issues and challenges related to water, sanitation and hygiene is desirable. Skill: Should be able to represent WaterAid at external forum with good presentation and communication skills. Functional skills are required on most of the common Microsoft programmes. Good command on English language and excellent writing skill are essential. The candidate is expected to be self-driven, pro-active and operate day to day activities with minimal supervision while engaging with management team for strategic decisions. Competencies: Should have leadership and strong interpersonal relationship qualities with problem solving attitude; should be able to draw confidence and support from other teams and colleagues; Must be pro-active, gender sensitive, possess personal integrity, flexible attitude, sense of respect for other colleagues; be able to work with minimum supervision under pressure to meet deadlines and competing priorities.

Salary & Benefits

Monthly gross salary is BDT 123500/-; flexible for deserving candidate corresponding to higher credentials. Benefits include provident fund, gratuity, festival bonus, life insurance for self, health insurance for self, spouse and children, cell phone allowances etc. as per policy provision.
